MMIS Celebrates International Astronomy Day

May 13, 2016

On the occasion of International Astronomy Day, MMIS organized a plethora of activities in the school today. The students of primary school made beautiful celestial bodies and constellations in their drawing files. Dressed in fancy spacesuits, the students of middle school impersonated their favourite astronauts like Kalpana Chawla, Rakesh Sharma, Sunita Williams and Neil Armstrong. Each one of them gave a brief account of life history and achievements of the great astronauts. The students of grades IX and X made and presented interesting and informative  power point  presentations on the topics like ‘New Discoveries in the Area of Space’, ‘Exploring the Universe’, ‘Astronomical Heritage Monuments in India’,  ‘How Astronomy Helps in Improving Quality of Resources on Earth’ etc.

The celebration of the day left the children wondering at the multiple facets of the universe and developing a sense of appreciation of the space they live in.
