The Magic of Block Printing

The Magic of Block Printing

 Aug 21, 2017

‘Creativity takes courage’, rightly has it been said by Henry Matisse. Art, not only creates things that please eyes but also blends beauty with utility.

Under the ISA Project, ‘Artistic Endeavours’, the students of MMIS, Mullana have been learning the new art forms of the four countries – Thailand, Japan, India and Egypt. Followed by Stone art and doodle art, the next creative challenge for the students was block printingand took it happily and courageusly.

The students of Grade V and VI  participated in the activity, Making Table Mats using the Block Printing of Thailand, Egypt, Japan and India. Dipping the hand blocks in fabric colours, the students very neatly stamped the designs on the casement fabric and decorated it with lace.

Coloured in precious emerald, ruby, saphhire and turquoise, the MMITanians’ tablemats are now ready for the show. Take a sneak peak.
